About Alyssa Smith, LLP

Psychologist (she/her/hers)

Welcome, I’m Alyssa.

I am a Limited Licensed Psychologist (LLP) and have been practicing as a psychologist since 2016. People would describe me as kind hearted, compassionate, and honest. I became interested in psychology during my undergraduate career. This interest grew as I started to work with youth struggling with both physical and mental health difficulties and during my time working at an inpatient psychiatric hospital. During my undergraduate and graduate training, I developed a strong passion in learning about how mental health challenges develop and ways to improve the lives of those struggling. I have dedicated my career in helping prevent mental health concerns from worsening and helping improve the lives of those who are already experiencing these challenges.

I received my undergraduate degree with a B.S. in Psychology from Grand Valley State University and my M.S. in Counseling/Clinical Psychology from Northeastern University. My post-graduate clinical training was obtained from McLean Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School, and the Massachusetts Mental Health Center.

Following graduate school, I spent 2 years working for the Department of Psychiatry with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and 6 years working with Michigan Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry.
